This Wednesday our Indvielsen project went up the wall. Official opening with talks and bubbles is today at 17.00 – Politikens Boghal. Everyone is welcome!
It is my great pleasure to invite you to the opening of the exhibition of our project – Indvielsen | Initiation: The Danish Tribe
June 3, 2016
17:00 – 19:00, Artist talk at 17.30
Politiken Boghal – Rådhuspladsen 37 , 1785 København K
This is a multi-disciplinary art project that me and Laureline Demonet have been working on lately. It is a project where we combine social studies, fashion, textile craft and photography.
Laureline explores the views of newcomers to Denmark on the Danish fashion and “Danishness” in general. She then creates a mask of what she has discovered through the interviews and later on I take photographs of the interviewees wearing their “Danish” mask.
This work is an opportunity for the Danes to look at themselves from a very unusual angle. We wish thereby to shake up the stereotypes about national identities and invite you to join the tribe!
The first part of our project will be exhibited as an installation on the Metro’s construction’s wall -City Hall Square. This is definitely the largest installation that I have ever been part of – we take over the whole wall, which is 4 meters high and 50 meters long, from top to bottom! The oversized portraits, accompanied by a narrative, will be there from the 3rd of June 2016 until end of December 2016.
More about the project: https://indvielsen.dk/
I’m really looking forward to seeing you on June 3rd for the opening of this bizarre project!
We are continuing to work on our Indvielsen – The Danish Tribe project. Me and Laureline are looking for a few more people to become part of it! The first part of the project you can find here.
We are looking for women from the following countries and based in Copenhagen to join us in this quest:
Germany or Norway or Sweden
Turkey or Iran
Afghanistan or Pakistan or Syria
If you are interested or know someone who might be interested – please drop an email to Laureline: laurelinedemonet [at] gmail.com
We are looking forward to hearing your story!
I have been invited again to help out with the CV photos shoot for the people who are currently enrolled in Copenhagen Host Program at the International House. It has been as inspiring as the first time and the weather was on our side, so we could go out and do some shoots outside as well.
Here is a small selection of photos from the day.
We will have another session on September 1, between 13 and 17. Need a CV photo? Contact the Copenhagen Host Program.
I’m excited to announce an opportunity for you to win a free photo shoot. It is easy to enter the draw.
Join us at the Designers’ Collective Christmas Market, which is hosted by Mirins Copenhagen during 28-30 November. Buy a print for at least 250 DKK and leave your name (or business card) in the basket.
I’ll draw a random winner from the available names and cards on Monday, December 1.
Although there will be only one winner for the free photo shoot, but all who will buy a print will get a discount on my services as a photographer.
In case you would like to give a gift to someone, but not really sure what exactly that person wants, you can get a gift card during the Market. The gift card can be used either during the Market to get a print or hire me later on as a photographer.
And remember that by buying prints from the “10th ward project” you directly support people to get care in hospice in Latvia.
It is a win-win for everyone! : )
I would really appreciate if you can spread this info among your friends and colleagues. And I’m looking forward to seeing you personally at the Market!

Sol Hallset is Norwegian, but moved to Copenhagen after finishing her education at the Art Academy in Bergen. She works mostly with drawing, often in large scale, but she also makes paintings, textile work and writes. Her work is centered around thoughts and theories of the human being and the world we create, and the human figure is often the motif in her work. At the moment she is showing the exhibition “frejdig når du går” in Brorsons Kirke in Copenhagen, and selling smaller prints/works in the shop Vaerkstedet in Blågårdsgade and in different Christmas markets, as well as Mirins.
I’ve been invited to do some product photography at Mirins, Copenhagen – where the shop owner, Jane, creates all sorts of beautiful things to make your daily life full of wonderful smells, sensations and give it a bit of zen.
I have been exploring the wonders of Jane’s creations for a couple of days now and here are some results, but have a few more things still to cover. Stay tuned!
And do drop by at Jane’s shop, Mirins, Blegdamsvej 108, Copenhagen, Denmark. I’m sure you’ll find something for your soul!
I would like to invite you to the Homeless Gallery, an event that our collective, Norse Creative, is organizing within the Copenhagen Photo Festival this year.
The idea with the Homeless Gallery is to enable all artists to publicly show their work, which for different reasons would otherwise not make it to public display.
Artists who cannot afford a gallery, artists who like to experiment, artists who would not think of showcasing their work to other people than family and friends. But also for professional artists who want to show some of their more personal projects.
The exhibition is not curated and open to all artists. Everybody can show their work, professionals, amateurs, students.
There are no entry requirements with regards to theme, format or genre. The exhibition will show work solely based on the artists self-censorship.
The Homeless Gallery has no permanent residence, it appears, opens its doors to the public, only to vanish again after a short while. The exhibition shall be a tribute to the many forms of photography and shall give space to a unique collection of photographical work, which will only exist in this form for a limited time.
This year we expect to host about 35 artists from various countries, residing mainly in Copenhagen, but also coming from London and Amsterdam.
From Friday to Sunday the Gallery will be open from 14.00 till around 22.00 and maybe later!
We have a nice lineup of live music for Friday, June 13th, starting with yours truly as part of the Turkish flute class with our teacher Cahit Ece at 15.00 (I’ll be on the guitar though), later at 17.00 we’ll have Cloos/Lund/Søgaard jazz trio, then around 20.00 – a band called Pierrot le Flou (beautiful music and vocal! not to miss!!) and there will be a DJ duo at the end of the evening…
Saturday is dedicated more to the photography – we will have Dmitry Bulkin from London giving an artist talk during the day and then Erik Schrader will join the Gallery with his artist talk and we’ll hear and see also from two travellers about their project in Uganda.
The Homeless Gallery is hosted by KW3, a project and cultural house for the young entrepreneurs and artists, located in Østerbro.
KW3, Krausesvej 3, 2100 København Ø.
Opening 12 June 2014, 20:00 – 22:00
